2. Mental Health & Neurodiversity Initiatives
- Council exploring a virtual parent workshop on neurodiversity, early signs, and available supports offered by a York Region–funded provider - CampKirk
- Potential for additional parent/child workshops through board contacts on topics like anxiety, ADHD, autism, and coping strategies.
- Student-facing programming would require board protocols and opt-in/opt-out procedures.
3. Winter Events & Community-Building
Winter Concert / Holiday Baskets
- Holiday basket raffle will run during the Dec 17 winter concert.
- Classroom basket themes include:

- Spa / Rejuvenation

- Candy Land (nut-free)
- Donation instructions will be shared with families.
Family Movie Event
- Date: Sunday, December 14th, 10:00am
- Location: Cineplex Aurora
- Movie:Zootopia
- Promotions: Instagram posting + banner at school entrance.
- Consolidated to a single date to ensure meeting the theatre’s minimum attendance requirement.
Event Planning Approach
- Council will develop a year-at-a-glance events calendar to ensure balanced planning, better volunteer coordination, and inclusion of older grades.
4. Hot Lunch Program
- New vendor starting January: Hot Lunch Headquarters (formerly Zukka’s).
- Menu options:
- 3pc chicken strips with rice
- 5pc chicken strips only
- Chicken breast skewer with rice & vegetables
- Meatball sub
- Penne with tomato sauce
- Penne with butter
- Last day to order: December 12th
- Vendor to provide cutlery and a few extra meals for emergencies or families in need.
5. Traffic & Parking Safety
- Ongoing concerns about speeding, unsafe turns, and driver non-compliance during drop-off/pick-up.
- Short-term ideas: volunteer-supported parking lot “patrol,” reinforcing kiss-and-ride expectations.
- Long-term solutions to explore with the city.
- Actions:
- Contact bylaw officers for enforcement guidance.
- Connect with Township representatives to explore road safety options.
- Look into practices from nearby schools with successful traffic management systems.
6. Winter & Extracurricular Programming
- Winter Carnival planned for February, typically around Valentine’s week.
- Ideas include outdoor activities, indoor themed days, hot chocolate, and potentially a poutine truck as a treat.
- Karate Club:
- Proposed lunchtime program (~$50/student, funds back to the school).
- To determine inclusion of older grades and finalize space/schedule.
- Lego/STEM Club:
- Awaiting confirmation/update on provider availability, with interest in offering programming for both younger and older grades.
7. Spirit Wear & Team Jerseys
- Team jerseys being finalized for winter sports tournaments.
- Spirit wear vendor options and product offerings are still to be finalized.
